Job Description | LMS Administrator

Role Overview:
The Learning Management Systems Administrator provides technical leadership in the support of our Learning Management System (LMS). This position is responsible for the support, design, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of content, assets, and other resources used for instructional functions. The Learning Management System Administrator is the primary system administrator for our LMS and oversees the installation of all system updates and upgrades, as well as tools and software integrated with the LMS. Work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Consultant -LMS and Administrative Officer.
Full stack developer in PHP/MySQL and related components, along with a full knowledge of the Moodle LMS object Model/platform.
• Maintains procedures and policies to ensure the security and integrity of systems/networks.
• Writes and maintains technical procedures and policy documentation.
• Works on assignments dealing with the routine and daily operation, use, and configuration of our LMS.
• Manages organisations within the LMS including functionality, appearance, tabs, and settings.
• Identifies and communicates opportunities for process and quality improvements, providing feedback on usage, defects, and suggested enhancements.
• Acquires and maintains knowledge of current technology, plug-ins as it applies to LMS software and systems.
• Collaborates with the organization / universities on training needs and opportunities for the expansion of talent development within the organization.
• Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing data and recommending solutions to utilize the LMS to deliver, track training and measure performance to meet organizational objectives.
• Creates and updates resources to train and support learners / university administrators / end users on how to use the LMS for online and for their learning journey.

• Provides troubleshooting assistance in the specified time line for organisations / universities / and learners / students regarding logging in to the LMS and accessing courses.
• Troubleshoots and resolves issues relating to system functionality and software systems to the organizations and clients.
• Serves as point of escalation for support issues, which may include interaction with LMS vendor and other internal support services.
• Reviews and monitors system performance.
• Works with the instructional technologist and instructional designers to troubleshoot and resolve technical and structural issues related to accessing the LMS and course content.
Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Must have a bachelor degree in CS or relevant field.
• Language proficiency in English & Arabic.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as an IT professional with at least one (1) year as technology project lead.
• Strong knowledge of PHP web frameworks {{such as Laravel, Yii, etc depending on your technology stack}} and understanding of MVC design patterns.
• Understanding of international norms like SCORM 1.2 and 2004, AICC, and xAPI (Tin Can).
• Exposure or experience of third party software such as SAP ERP, Oracle ERP, Peoplesoft ERP, Salesforce. etc., using API integration with LMS.
• Working knowledge of multiple web design technologies, such as HTML5, CSS, MySQL, MS Office and open source platforms like Moodle 3.10.
• Exposure to the e-Commerce integration with the LMS.
• Exposure to the cloud server hosting services of LMS.
• Exposure to the development lifecycle of the mobile application based LMS.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within stimulated time frame.
• Ability to collaborate with others at all levels of the organization as well as vendors
• Ability to gain new technical skills quickly
• Customer service skills, responsive attitude
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English & Arabic; ability to communicate complex technical concepts in layman’s terms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework and/or certifications relating to learning management system administration preferred
• Social media or knowledge management experience
• Familiarity with course design and development
